Went to the LACMA the other day to get inspired. Here are a few things that caught my eye.

Happy 2012!

Happy 2012!

I hope everyone's year is starting off to a great start! So far I've had a few bumps in the road with my personal life but I'm hoping that I got the yucky out for a while and only have good things to come. I made a little flower tribute to the new year with pickings from my yard. C'mon 2012...let's do this!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving weekend! Just wanted to share a lovely little arrangement I made for a client. Isn't she pretty?!?!

Recently noticed I've been snapping iPhone shots of all of the above quite a bit lately. Here are some fun ones.

Lace and lavender inspiration.

Lace and lavender inspiration.

One of my good friends is getting married later this month and I'm happy to be helping her with the decor and flowers for the event. Initially she was a little scared of being too bridezilla-ish and avoided telling us what she wanted (her soon to be mother in-law is making the table arrangements, I am in charge of the ceremony and personal flowers) but with time we've slowly but surely coerced a wedding vision out of her. And oh is it a lovely one if I do say so myself! Check out the inspiration photos above for a small preview of what is to come.

I find it a treat to help out friends and loved ones with their weddings. I know them on such a personal level that my creations are truly an inspiration straight from their personality and heart. So looking forward to your wedding day, Cori! It's gonna be the best!

Summertime day dreaming.

Summertime day dreaming.

Oh, hello! It's been a while hasn't it. Sorry for my lack of blog updating. When I haven't been working hard on weddings I've been day dreaming of summertime escapes and afternoon lounges in hammocks. Ode to the days of 3 month summer breaks and daily naps. (sigh)

I did get to escape LA for a bit in June and travelled north to visit friends and family in the Bay Area. T'was a lovely little trip. I spent some time in my hometown of Sebastopol and relished in the beauty of my mom's garden. It truly is quite amazing this time of year. She lets the Queen Anne's Lace grow from seed (I secretly think it's because she knows I love it so much) and I always poke around and try to find the ones with the red in the middle. Those are my faves.

Fruits of our labor.

Fruits of our labor.

Or should I say "vegetables of our labor". Our garden is producing some lovely treats. So satisfying to be able to come home and make dinner from vegetables gathered in your own back yard.

Bouts.

Bouts.

I love making boutonnieres. They're usually the last item to check off your list for a wedding right before rushing out the door to deliver/install on site. I gather my ingredients, collect the finishing ribbon, pull up a chair and start creating small floral vignettes to adorn the lapels and necklines of the wedding party.

Here a few bright and fun ones I made in the spring.

Easter goodness.

Easter goodness.

It was a decadent Easter this year. My good friend Danielle Rowe, of Brown Paper Design, and I decided to throw a little Easter bash to celebrate with our friends, families and loved ones. The backyard setting and warm sun shining upon us made for a lovely late afternoon gathering.

We decorated.

We were surrounded by great company.

And we feasted on an amazing meal. Easter goodness indeed.

i got a little crazy with the textures on this one but the large king protea is really the standout. Isn't she pretty?

Purple easter radishes make for a lovely color palette. Nature can be the best inspiration at times.

La Tavola: week 1

La Tavola: week 1

The lovely ladies at La Tavola Linen asked me to do flowers for the next 2 months in their Beverly Hills' showroom. This is my first creation that will adorn their silver, white and lavender color themed table. I hope to make each weeks' arrangement different even though the table setting and decor will remain the same so keep your eyes out for more purple centerpieces.

Pockets o' goodness.

Pockets o' goodness.

Love the exterior walls of the Smog Shoppe here in LA. So urban, yet so green. And not only green in color but green in sustainability as well. Go Smog Shoppe.

Everlasting bouquet.

Everlasting bouquet.

Came across these cute metal flowers last week. A bit shabby chic-esque but I adore them.

Tracy & Jake

Tracy & Jake

My good friends Tracy and Jake got married at City Hall in San Francisco last month. Their ceremony was small and intimate but they followed it with a lovely reception for friends and family at Axis Cafe. I was more than happy to assist them in adorning the space with bright flowers, colorful paper chains, jewel colored balloons and other fun decor. The celebration was documented by photographer Traci Griffin who was a charm to work with and did a beautiful job of capturing the special event. Click here to view more photos.
